James deGrey David abides by a simple philosophy in his landscape design: He uses plants that work. His gardens reflect a bold and adventurous diversity through flora both indigenous and exotic that thrive in his hands. James earned a BA in landscape architecture from Louisiana State University and a Masters in Community and Regional Planning from the School of Architecture at the University of Texas. For 8 years he worked as a landscape architect with the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife. He serves as a board member of the Garden Conservancy and chairs its Open Days Program, which encourages gardening by opening private gardens across the nation to the public.
